The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, appointed Deputy Director-General for Administration.
The campaign structure, announced on Saturday, August 22, 2026, places former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, at the centre of the ruling party’s election machinery as Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as Secretary.
President Tinubu will chair the Presidential Campaign Council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda serving as vice chairmen.
The council also includes several prominent APC figures. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Barau Jibrin were assigned major responsibilities in the campaign structure.
Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General for Mobilisation, while Gbajabiamila takes charge as Deputy Director-General for Administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, a major figure in the APC's 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
The council's advisory body includes veteran politicians Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
For media and strategic communication, Information Minister Mohammed Idris Malagi will serve as a coordinating director alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Other prominent members of the media team include Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka, while Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media. The campaign also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake.
President Tinubu charged members of the council to work towards securing another victory for the APC, arguing that his administration has placed Nigeria on the path of economic progress.
The President said the party has “many achievements to trumpet” as it enters the campaign season and urged the campaign organisation to take the administration's record to Nigerians across the country.
The constitution of the campaign council signals a major acceleration of APC's preparations for the January 2027 presidential election, with the ruling party assembling experienced politicians, serving government officials and campaign strategists for Tinubu's re-election battle.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on August 22, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
