Vice President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated a 33.5-kilometre road project linking three Local Government Areas in Rivers State, describing infrastructure development as an important catalyst for economic growth and improved living standards.
Speaking during the inauguration, Shettima said the project would strengthen connectivity among communities, ease movement of people and goods, and open up greater economic opportunities for residents.
The Vice President also conveyed the greetings of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the government and people of Rivers State, saying the Federal Government remained committed to supporting projects capable of improving the lives of Nigerians.
According to Shettima, the completion of such infrastructure gives the people confidence that government can deliver meaningful development and demonstrates what can be achieved through cooperation between different levels of government.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in his remarks, said the road project was part of his administration's commitment to providing infrastructure that would have a direct and lasting impact on the people.
Fubara noted that connecting communities through quality roads would boost commerce, improve access and encourage development across the affected local government areas.
The inauguration attracted government officials, traditional leaders, community representatives and residents who welcomed the completion of the project.
