Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reportedly expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election, declaring that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
According to reports, the governor made the declaration while delivering a speech at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja.
Adeleke, who is associated with the Accord Party, reportedly maintained that President Tinubu deserves the opportunity to complete his administration's programmes, expressing his readiness to support the President's second-term ambition.
His reported declaration has, however, generated mixed reactions, particularly among some members of the Accord Party in Osun State.
ACCORD PARTY CHIEFTAIN REACTS
In a swift reaction, a chieftain of the Accord Party, who pleaded anonymity, reportedly distanced party members from Governor Adeleke's declaration.
According to the chieftain, the governor's position should not be interpreted as the collective decision of the party.
“Governor Adeleke is on his own. He has only one vote. His personal decision does not mean that every member of the Accord Party will vote for President Tinubu in 2027,” the chieftain reportedly stated.
The party chieftain further alleged that some members remained dissatisfied with the political developments surrounding the recently conducted governorship election in Osun State.
He maintained that party members reserved the right to make independent political decisions ahead of the presidential election.
POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS
The reported development raises questions about political alliances ahead of the 2027 general election, particularly the relationship between governors belonging to opposition parties and the ruling APC.
Political observers will be watching whether Governor Adeleke's reported declaration represents a personal political position or signals a broader realignment.
For now, the reported disagreement highlights the differences that may emerge between political leaders and their party members over presidential endorsements.
