OSUN — Yellow has taken centre stage in Osun State following the re-election of Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, in the Saturday, August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Adeleke emerged ahead of his major challengers, including Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The outcome triggered celebrations among supporters of the governor and the Imole political movement.
The election, however, was not without controversy. There were reports of BVAS glitches, allegations of vote-buying, intimidation and isolated violence in some polling areas.
OLAJENGBESI TO APC: ACCEPT THE RESULT
Spokesman of the Imole Campaign Council, Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi, called on the APC candidate to accept the outcome and congratulate Governor Adeleke.
Earlier during the collation process, Adeleke's camp had raised concerns about reported BVAS failures in some polling units.

ATIKU CONGRATULATES ADELEKE

ADC presidential candidate and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar congratulated Adeleke on his re-election, describing the result as an expression of the choice of Osun voters.
Atiku also commended the people of Osun for their participation and wished Adeleke success in continuing to serve the state.

WHAT HAPPENED ON ELECTION DAY

NAJEEM SALAAM VOTES — VIOLENCE LATER ERUPTS

ADC governorship candidate Najeem Salaam cast his vote at Ward 4, Polling Unit 13, Ejigbo Local Government Area.
Voting at the polling area was later disrupted following an outbreak of violence. Security personnel, including officers of the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, intervened.
There were also allegations that ADC agents were denied access in some locations. Salaam had earlier expressed concern over the situation while maintaining that the election should be peaceful.

AMBO CALLS FOR PEACE

APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, also exercised his franchise and urged residents to maintain peace throughout the election.
Former Osun governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Gboyega Oyetola praised the turnout of voters and expressed optimism about his party's performance.

ADELEKE ALLEGES HARASSMENT

Governor Adeleke alleged that some members of his party were harassed and tear-gassed during the exercise.
His deputy also acknowledged some technical glitches during voting but said complaints made to INEC received attention.

85-YEAR-OLD VOTER DEMANDS GOOD GOVERNANCE

Among the memorable scenes from the election was 85-year-old Pa Odejide Mosunmoye, who came out to exercise his franchise.
His message was simple: whoever emerged victorious should provide good governance for the people of Osun State.
OLUWO CASTS HIS VOTE
The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, cast his vote at Ward 2, Polling Unit 1, Iwo.
The traditional ruler urged eligible voters to exercise their democratic rights peacefully and called for orderliness and respect for the electoral process.

DAVIDO AND THE OSUN ELECTION

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, had raised an alarm ahead of the election, alleging that he had received information that soldiers might attempt to prevent him from entering Osun State.
Following Adeleke's victory, the singer celebrated his uncle's success.

PROPHECY BEFORE THE ELECTION
BISHOP DR. SANYA OJO HAD PREDICTED ADELEKE'S VICTORY

Before the election, Bishop Dr. Sanya Ojo, Leader of Veno Prayer Centre a.k.a. Mountain of Covenant, publicly expressed his conviction that Senator Ademola Adeleke would emerge victorious.
According to Bishop Ojo, the conviction followed a trance in which he saw the governor, popularly called Ade Dancer, at a gathering amid shouts of victory.
The cleric said that in the vision he noticed dirt on the governor and used a white handkerchief to clean it before waking up.
He subsequently shared the experience on his platform and organised three days of intercessory prayers for Adeleke.
Bishop Ojo likened the political battle to the biblical encounter between David and Goliath, declaring his belief that Adeleke would overcome the political forces confronting him.
With the election concluded and Adeleke emerging victorious, supporters of the cleric have revisited the prediction.
Congratulations to Senator Ademola Adeleke and the people of Osun State.

TIBETAN'S PREDICTION GOES THE OTHER WAY
Another Lagos-based cleric, popularly known as Tibetan, had reportedly predicted a different outcome, suggesting that Adeleke would be defeated by the APC.
Following Adeleke's victory, attention has returned to the contrasting predictions made by religious figures before the election.

ERO ARIKE REACTS
Popular Osun politician Ero Arike also attracted attention on social media following the APC's defeat, with a video circulating online showing an emotional reaction attributed to her.

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN

The August 15 election will be remembered not only for its political outcome but also for the high voter interest, isolated security incidents, technical challenges and allegations that accompanied the exercise.
For Governor Ademola Adeleke and his supporters, however, the overriding message is unmistakable:
