VENO NEWS: Insecurity In Benue State: Dr.Jonathan Onoja In Pain Over Death of A Legal Luminary Date: 04-12-24
Barrister Mike Ofikwu, a young lawyer and activist, was shot and killed by two gunmen in Otukpo, Benue State recently. The incident occurred near his residence on Otukpa Street, when the gunmen attacked him as he was trying to enter his home. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Benue State Command police spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation was ongoing. She also expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and assured them that justice would be served.
The Nigerian Bar Association also condemned the assassination of Ofikwu, who was the Secretary of the Otukpo branch. The Class of 2007 of the Faculty of Law, Benue State University, also expressed shock, sorrow, and condemnation over the death of their classmate and colleague.
In an interview session with Dr.Jonathan Onoja, on NTA, on Wednesday he has described the incident as a painful loss and he however blaming the governor of the state as not being proactive in tacking the
insecurity..According to him.,Dr.Jonathan emphatically revealed that he donated money to pay for a ranson to free a VC who was kidnapped
