Africa's global banking brand, the United Bank for Africa, UBA was over the last weekend named the "BANK OF THE YEAR" by the organizers and management of the Silverbird Media Group and the Silverbird Man of the Year Award ceremony.
The award, which had only UBA in the banking category as according to the organizers, was because UBA had proven their mettle in the banking sector, not only in Nigeria, but across the African continent, stretching into the world.
Presenting the award to the bank, who was represented by Mr. Sampson Aneke, the bank's head for the South Directorate, the Deputy Governor of Lagos, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, said that it was an honour to present the award to UBA, amongst many other banks in Nigeria, so, you should be proud to have received this plaque from the Silverbird Group.
Mr. Sampson dedicated the award to all the customers of the bank across the country, saying that UBA is the only Nigerian bank with an operational office in the US as an American bank, as what others have of their banks are reps, but we operate as a whole institution in the US.
He went further to state that UBA is in 20 African countries, with huge presence in other emerging countries
