VENO tv: Politics “I HAVE DEMONSTRATED COALITION” — DELE MOMODU BACKS ADELEKE
Date: 13-08-26

By Kayode Adoide

Veteran journalist and politician, Dele Momodu, has explained why he is throwing his weight behind Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, despite belonging to a different political platform.

According to Momodu, the forthcoming political battle in Osun goes beyond personalities and party differences, stressing that politicians must sometimes put differences aside in the interest of performance and development.

“We must put our differences aside. When we came into the ADC, it was to demonstrate coalition,” Momodu said.
He described Governor Adeleke as his “twin brother” and a fantastic human being who, despite being subjected to political attacks, bullying and intimidation, has remained focused on delivering development to the people of Osun State.
Momodu argued that it would be difficult for him to ignore what he considers the visible achievements of the Adeleke administration simply because his political party has another candidate.

“My loyalty is being tested, not just as a friend, but because he has done very well,” he said.
Reflecting on his long association with Ile-Ife, Momodu said he spent about 28 years there and understands the development challenges confronting parts of the state. He maintained that Adeleke's administration has demonstrated a commitment to development.

“I have the record of his performance. I don't want to leave certainty for uncertainty,” he said, while acknowledging that another candidate could potentially perform better if elected.

Momodu also criticised the previous APC administration in Osun, describing its performance as a failure compared with what he believes Adeleke has achieved.
According to him, as long as the governor continues to deliver projects and manages the state's resources responsibly, supporting him should not be viewed merely from the perspective of party loyalty.

WHY MOMODU IS BACKING ADELEKE

For Momodu, his support is essentially about performance over party affiliation. He maintained that Adeleke's record in office has earned him support beyond his immediate political camp.
He also defended the governor's popular image as the “Dancing Governor,” saying dancing and celebration should not be mistaken for an inability to govern.

“We praise God through dancing and drumming,” he said.
With the Osun governorship contest approaching, Momodu's position further highlights the political alliances and cross-party support surrounding the battle for the state.
