The General Overseer of , , has shared a powerful testimony of how an encounter with Jesus Christ completely transformed his life after years of living in fear and depending on traditional charms for protection.
Speaking during a recent ministration, Pastor Adeboye recalled the atmosphere of fear and spiritual darkness that surrounded his hometown in his younger days. According to him, travellers heading to the community often avoided attracting attention by changing into simple clothing before arriving. Many would even disguise their true intentions and leave shortly after visiting relatives because of the fear that gripped the community.
He narrated that, in search of protection, he once visited a traditional priest (Babalawo) in Osogbo, who promised to fortify him against evil attacks. The priest instructed him to buy a goat and personally lead it from the market to his house instead of transporting it by car. After the sacrifice, he was given three charms with specific instructions: one to be tied to the steering wheel, another placed in the boot of his car, while the third was to be kept under him while driving.
According to Pastor Adeboye, the charms failed completely. Rather than providing protection, he was involved in three separate road accidents within two weeks. Disappointed and convinced that the charms were powerless, he threw them all into the lagoon.
He declared that the true turning point in his life came only after he encountered Jesus Christ. Since then, he said, he has lived without fear, trusting completely in God's protection rather than in traditional practices.
"Today, I can travel by land, air, or sea without fear because I have had an encounter with Jesus Christ," he said. "I am no longer afraid of the devil. I even announce when I am coming home. If the witches want to run away, they have enough notice."
Pastor Adeboye emphasized that genuine security, healing, peace, and lasting breakthrough can only be found in Christ. He urged those who have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus to do so, assuring them that a true encounter with Christ brings complete transformation and an all-round turnaround.
He concluded by encouraging believers to place their confidence in God alone, stressing that no charm or fetish power can compare with the saving and preserving power of Jesus Christ.
