President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to allegations linking the federal government to attacks on opposition figures, insisting that he has no need to resort to violence or illegal means to exercise authority.
Speaking while addressing federal lawmakers in Abuja, the President dismissed the claims and emphasized that leadership must be guided by law, not force.
According to him, “If I need a gun, I would issue myself a license as the authority,” stressing that power in a democratic setting comes from the constitution and the mandate of the people, not intimidation.
The President urged political actors to conduct their engagements within the bounds of the law, warning against the spread of misinformation capable of heating up the polity. He called for calm, unity, and responsible opposition as the nation continues on the path of democratic governance.
