VENO tv: Politics! 15 “Minutes of Interruption” Between Akpabio & Oshiomhole
Date: 07-05-26

Senate President, , on Tuesday warned Senator to maintain order during proceedings or risk being ordered out of the hallowed chamber.
Speaking during the heated session, Senator Nwaoboshi explained that the issues surrounding the Senate Standing Rules have now been resolved, adding that Nigerians should be properly informed about the recent amendments made by the 10th Senate.
According to him, the Senate reviewed Orders 1, 55 and 60 of the Standing Rules.
He stated:
“Order 3 allows for review. A Senator must first take the oath of allegiance before becoming a full member, not merely as Senator-elect.
“Under Order 3, Rules 3 and 4, before you are eligible to vote or contest for leadership positions, experience is important. The minimum requirement is being a second-term Senator.
“This is about self-preservation and continuity. Section 60 gives the Senate powers to regulate its procedures. We need experienced hands who understand parliamentary traditions to lead the Senate.”
He maintained that the amendment was not targeted at any individual or designed to favour a particular aspirant.
On whether Akpabio may return as Senate President in the future, he said:
“When we get to the bridge, we shall cross it.”
Speaking on the Southeast and the fortunes of the APC in the region, the Senator argued that President has shown considerable support to the Southeast through appointments and infrastructural development.
“Since 1914, this is one of the periods the Southeast is receiving serious attention. Roads are being rehabilitated and the region is benefiting from federal presence,” he said.
He also faulted the political timing of , saying the former presidential candidate ,Peter Obi was “coming out at the wrong time.”
