VENO tv: FOREIGN NEWS GREENLAND SECURITY DEAL SEALED U.S., Denmark, Greenland Reach Historic Arctic Agreement

The United States, Denmark and Greenland have sealed a new security agreement aimed at strengthening defence and strategic cooperation in the Arctic and North Atlantic.
The agreement, signed on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, by U.S. President Donald Trump, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, allows an expanded American military presence in Greenland.
Under the arrangement, the United States is expected to strengthen its military infrastructure, including facilities at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig, while continuing operations at the strategically important Pituffik Space Base.
However, the agreement does not transfer Greenland to the United States. Denmark and Greenland maintain sovereignty and Greenland’s right to self-determination is recognised under the deal.
The pact is seen as a major move to strengthen NATO’s position in the Arctic amid growing strategic competition in the region.
The agreement will fully take effect subject to the necessary national parliamentary procedures.
